Palestrant's Premiere

Dr. Chris Palestrant, proud Wolfhound alumnus parent (Will Palestrant, ’18), composer, and a Professor of Music, was commissioned to write a new piece of music, The Port of Freedom, which is being premiered by the Tidewater Winds next week during four concerts, Sunday, July 22 -Wednesday, July 25. They will perform the work during a series of free, family-friendly concerts. This should be a terrific evening out! Here are the details:

The Tidewater Winds, a 52-piece professional concert band, will be featuring The Port of Freedom, Chris’ new work dedicated to all those who serve at sea. The piece incorporates authentic naval sounds, from a ship’s bell ringing the hour to a boatswain’s call piping the crew on deck, and culminates in a rousing march as a ship sails majestically out to open waters.

The concert is entitled “America: Let Freedom Ring!,” and includes grand music by Sousa, John Williams, and others. No tickets are required, just show up and bring a friend!
