Happy Birthday to the U.S. Navy

Saint Patrick celebrated the Navy’s 242nd Birthday on October 13. As students arrived last Friday morning they were greeted by some special guests. Six members of Amphibious Construction Battalion TWO, Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story, visited Saint Patrick as part of the Fleet Week Hampton Roads community outreach. Fleet Week Hampton Roads, held in conjunction with the Navy’s birthday, celebrates and recognizes the sacrifices and contributions of Sailors, past and present, who are our neighbors, volunteers, and citizens who actively work each day to enhance the quality of life for Hampton Roads residents and its visitors.

These sailors welcomed students at drop off, attended Middle School assembly where they participated in the Pledge of Allegiance, shared their personnel stories, and answered great questions posed by our curious students. After assembly they visited some of the lower school classrooms.  Over one third of Saint Patrick students are dependents or have an affiliation with our Armed Forces and these sailors were welcomed with open arms. A few of them even returned that afternoon to help set up for the Wolfhounds Will Gala!
