Two Saint Patrick Students Sail Away with a Win

On September 16, sixth grader Sean Trudell and fourth grader Amelon Rule, sailed in the Sunfish Challenge Distance Race. This is an approximately 11-12 mile distance race starting in Willoughby Bay, around Middle Ground Lighthouse, and back in a 22 foot or smaller dingy.  This year 73 boats competed. It took the duo almost four hours to complete. (The last boat crossed the finish line in six hours.) This is not a youth race. Sean and Amelon were amongst a very small handful of children involved in the race and the ONLY boat without an adult in it. They won first place in the tandem class and were also awarded the boat of the day for embodying the spirit of sailing. Congrats to our fellow Wolfhounds!
