Four Saint Patrick Students to Compete in History Day State Competition on Saturday
Four Saint Patrick students will compete in the History Day State Competition on Saturday, April 22 at the Virginia Historical Society in Richmond. The District 6 Regional History Day Competition was held on Saturday, March 25 at Saint Patrick. District 6 includes schools across southeastern Virginia. Our seventh and eighth grade students participated in the event along with students from other local schools. They presented a strong collection of projects with four of our students winning across two categories!
This year’s theme was “Taking a Stand in History.” The theme is intentionally broad to encourage students to explore topics ranging from ancient history to modern and local history. Preparation for History Day began in September from exploring topic ideas to researching primary sources, to taking notes and writing annotated bibliographies.
Students who are advancing to the state competition are listed below along with their project titles. Our students put much time and energy into their projects and we are excited as they move on to the state competition this weekend. They will compete against students from 7 other districts from across the state. Go Wolfhounds!
