Wolfhounds Take Top Prizes at Norfolk Public Library Annual Book Review Contest

Each year, Friends of the Norfolk Public Library hosts a book review contest for all Norfolk students in Grades 4-12 in an effort to encourage both reading and critical thinking. Participants include those in public and private school, and those who are home-schooled. Students compete at their own grade level for first, second or third place.

This year, a total of were 1,710 participants from 20 schools (including home-schooled students) competed and Saint Patrick Catholic School walked away with four of the top prizes.

Winners were:

Grade 4: 2nd place: Ella Cox
Grade 5: 1st place: Emma Hickey
              3rd place:  Brooke Herndon
Grade 6: 1st place: Devin Murchake

Held at the newly renovated Slover library, the awards ceremony featured Lisa Suhay was the guest speaker and our winners were excited to be recognized and receive their awards!

Special thanks to librarian Betsy Cox, along with all of the teachers who helped our students prepare their entries.
