Dedication of the Fourteenth Station

The XIV Station of the Cross -“Jesus is Laid in the Tomb” was dedicated in honor of the Class of 2021 on Wednesday, June 16. The dedication was held virtually in 2020 due to health restrictions, so everyone was truly excited that the Eighth Grade students and their families could attend, in-person, this year.

Principal Steve Hammond opened the ceremony and shared that he visits each Station on Good Friday to pause and reflect. He explained that he prays for every student from every class by name and looks forward to continuing the tradition next year and fondly remembering the Class of 2021.

Founding Board Member Mr. Chuck McPhillips addressed the Class of 2021 as well and emphasized the importance of loving one another as Jesus calls us all to do. He challenged everyone in attendance to appeal to the better angels of our nature and find the good in one another.

The artwork depicted on the station was designed by Eighth Grade student Marin Britt. She had the honor of handing out the bricks on which each of her classmates names are inscribed and will forever remain a part the Station. This station will stand as a beautiful tribute to the Class of 2021 for many years to come and remind us to have faith in the midst of challenging times.
