Wolfhounds Display Athletic Prowess This Spring

Our students have demonstrated their athletic talents this spring in soccer, field hockey, tennis, baseball, and martial arts.

Earlier this month, the Middle School Girls Soccer Team won a 3-2 semifinal game over Norfolk Collegiate with six minutes to go in the game. They then won the championship game 2-0 against the Beach Breakers, who they tied 2-2 in the regular season. This win gave the team their fifth consecutive conference title. Eighth grader Lucy Schuurman and seventh grader Bella Sadr were named as All-Conference Athletes.

The Girls Field Hockey Program enjoyed much success this season competing in the Catholic Field Hockey League. The seventh and eighth grade "Lucky Charms" and the third grade "Green Giants" both captured their respective division championships. The third grade girls also had an undefeated season! The fifth grade “Green Machines” won third place in their division.

The Middle School Boys Tennis Team completed their most successful season in school history with a 6-1 overall record. Eighth grader Alex Laplace won all but one of his matches as a singles competitor. In the absence of a girls team, eighth grader Celia Laplace played on the boys team. Her participation has inspired the school to organize a girls team for next year.

The Middle School Boys Baseball Team earned a championship title this season with an 11-7 win over St. Matthews—even more impressive since this is only their second year as a school team. They entered the finals as the underdog having lost to St. Matthews on two other occasions. Eighth grader Adam Beaver and seventh grader Dawson Montagna pitched the final game.

Sixth graders Emilia Murphy and Chardan Bonheur and fifth grader Hannah Bonheur tested and received their black belts through Eagles Self-Defense Academy. This title is a testament to their years of focus, determination, hard work, and devotion to martial arts. Since the program’s inception, only 26 out of nearly 700 students have achieved this distinction. Emilia is the second youngest student to earn this distinction and Chardan and Hannah are the program’s first set of twins to earn black belts.

We are proud of our students’ athletic accomplishments, which not only demonstrate their athletic talents but also their ability to work together as a team.
