Military Families

We are a proud Purple Star School!

The Virginia Purple Star Designation is awarded to military-friendly schools that have demonstrated a major commitment to students and families connected to our nation’s military. Close to 40% of our Wolfhound students are military connected, so we, the Saint Patrick community, recognize their sacrifice as well. Military-connected refers to children of service members on active duty and in the National Guard and Reserves.

The Purple Star program is designed to help schools respond to the educational and social-emotional challenges military-connected children face during their transition to a new school while keeping them on track to be high school, college, workforce, and life-ready. We are honored and humbled that so many military families have chosen Saint Patrick Catholic School for their children. Whether they spend two years or ten years with us, they will always have a home here and will forever be Wolfhounds!

Our student government, the Celtic Council, is committed to welcoming military-connected students to the Wolfhound community.  Part of the Vice President’s duties are to welcome and “hail” new and withdrawing students and to offer peer-to-peer support on an as-needed basis to military-connected students.

Apply to Saint Patrick Catholic School

Saint Patrick understands that military families may be awaiting confirmation of orders prior to applying, but does encourage military families to apply early if there is even a possibility of relocation to the Hampton Roads area as applications are accepted on a rolling basis as space allows. Waitlists are common at all grade levels. Please visit our Admissions Page for application instructions and contact our Director of Admissions, about having your PreK-8 placement screening proctored at your current duty station.

Academic Planning for Military Families

Saint Patrick Catholic School’s unique curriculum focuses on developing the whole child mind, body and spirit.  Students are taught the necessary skills and concepts to be successful in school and in life through curriculum and programs that inspire student motivation and foster autonomy in self-reflection and decision-making leading to the aspired Graduate at Graduation

If Tuition Refund Insurance is purchased, military families will receive a refund of the tuition paid if transfer orders are received out of the area. Families must notify the school once orders are received with their pending departure date. Once identified, families must submit the appropriate record release form from their child’s new school to STPCS so that student records can be forwarded on their behalf.
