The Saint Patrick Catholic School counseling program offers all students optional support for developmental and personal needs and reflects our school-wide focus on addressing the whole child.
Our counselor provides a safe environment where an emphasis on self knowledge and emotional awareness empower students to communicate effectively, make wise choices, and progress on personal goals. In support of the school’s central foundation of Catholic identity, some guidance may include reflective evaluation of their behavior in relation to their Christian responsibility.
The needs of students determine the type of service given. Some counseling is done one-on-one in a confidential setting while at other times support includes the input and collaboration of students’ teachers and parents. Small group support is also offered when appropriate.
Our counselor also assists faculty and staff to better implement strategies within the curriculum to help students become reflective, confident and effective problem solvers. The counselor also collaborates with faculty to plan lessons on Choice Theory and Reality Therapy. Saint Patrick encourages parents to attend informational sessions offered at the school to learn more about Glasser Quality Schools, Choice Theory and Reality Therapy.
