Going The Distance
Seventh Grader Bermuda G. swam in the Virginia Long Course Age Group Championships in Christiansburg, Virginia on July 27-29. She had ten qualifying events, but swam in seven individual events and four relays. Highlights from her meet include 3rd place in the state for 200 meter butterfly, 6th place in100 meter butterfly, and 10th place in 50 meter butterfly. Her 200 meter butterfly time earned her a spot on the Virginia team competing in the Eastern Zone Long Course Championship meet in Richmond on August 8-11. Top swimmers from twelve states qualified for this meet. Bermuda swam her 2nd fastest 200 meter butterfly time, and the Virginia team, one of the smallest teams due to strict qualifying requirements, placed 4th overall in the Eastern Zone.
