The Model UN Club is Thriving at Saint Patrick!

The Saint Patrick Catholic School Model United Nations Club began in 2008 with eight students and has now expanded to 30 members in its fourteenth year. We have been excited to see the interest in the club continue to grow and are thrilled that we now have Wolfhound graduates so closely involved in its ongoing success. Model United Nations (MUN) is a simulation of the real United Nations. Students research countries throughout the world and delve into a variety of issues facing our international community prior to the Model UN Conference to be held in March. Students will use the information they have gathered to represent their assigned country and work with students, from other schools, to develop solutions to make our world a better place for all.

While Middle School teacher Mary Liz Aldridge serves as the faculty advisor, the 2021-2022 school year marks the fifth year the club has been led by Wolfhound alumni. Reeves Yanez (2014) and Edward Noe (2015) started the tradition of Saint Patrick graduates teaching, guiding, and preparing current students for the annual Model United Nations conference at William and Mary (WMIDMUN). Preston Aldridge (2018) currently leads the group and in his fourth year as an alumni advisor. Through the marvels of modern technology, Preston virtually joins the group from The Kiski School in Saltsburg, PA, and Henry Allard (2019) plans each meeting even after moving to Iowa this past summer. Ryan Sullivan (2019) has stepped up during his first year an advisor by supporting our Wolfhound students in the classroom. The Model United Nations Club seamlessly aligns with the greater mission of Saint Patrick by empowering young servant leaders in Wolfhound country!
