The Curriculum at Saint Patrick Catholic School

Pre-K Curriculum

Saint Patrick's Pre-Kindergarten program uplifts children as it ignites a passion for learning new knowledge through gentle guidance, love, support and laughter. In a warm, nurturing environment, students will learn about the world around them through exploration and discovery. Readiness skills, art, and music will be integrated into themed units each day to both engage children and encourage them to use their natural curiosity. Daily centers, learning games and structured play will offer additional opportunities to develop skills in math and language arts readiness. Students also will broaden their horizons through weekly instruction in Spanish and music. By transforming each classroom into a community of learners who work together and support each other, educators will foster autonomy and positive communication. Finally, educators will help each child develop a positive self-image by celebrating him or her as a unique gift from God - a gift comprised of special talents and characteristics waiting to be discovered and appreciated.

Lower School Curriculum

Middle School Curriculum

For students in grades 5-8, the focus is on becoming independent learners and thinkers in preparation for success in high school. Instruction will be both engaging and interesting, building on students' strengths but not ignoring weaknesses.

Research-based practices and the integration of technology will be hallmarks of the student-centered instruction at Saint Patrick. Special curriculum units and materials designed for high-ability learners also will be used to enrich and extend learning in language arts, science, and social studies. Our 8th-graders also will have the opportunity to complete coursework for high-school graduation in algebra, foreign language, and science.

In addition to performance on national tests, student learning will be assessed using teacher-made tests, student portfolios and exhibits, performance tasks, presentations, essays, journals, projects, discussions, debates, parent-teacher conferences, daily/weekly comment sheets, and student-teacher conferences.
