How To Sell Your Textbooks through MBS Direct

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

Dear Parents,

Can you believe it?! We are fast approaching the end of the 2008-2009 school year. This initial communication regarding the Saint Patrick Catholic School textbook process serves as introduction to the process to our new families and as a reminder to our parents of currently enrolled students.

We have contracted with MBS Direct, one of the largest textbooks suppliers in the country, to assist us in the provision of textbooks to our student families. Please note that you are not required to use MBS Direct and that you have the option to purchase your textbooks from the various vendors and sources that are available to you.  The only requirements for using alternate sources to acquire textbooks are to purchase the correct edition of each textbook and purchase only unused workbooks.

The online textbook purchasing option is available and the link can be found in the parent section of our web page.  Additionally, parents can use the Saint Patrick Catholic School Facebook Group discussion board to post and fill requests for gently used student textbooks.

Attached is the final textbook list for the 2009-2010 school year which will include the title and ISB number for each text.  There have been some changes in consumable texts for Mathematics in lower school; however, the changes will not result in increased costs for families. In middle school, there are some changes to English and Mathematics textbooks.  All changes were a result of the faculty’s annual evaluation of textbook use to determine the best resources for student instruction.  Again, the costs for required textbooks will remain the same or be reduced by the changes.  Additionally, you will notice there are a few items that are either available only through the school or are available through the school at a lesser cost.

Along with those particular English and Mathematics texts no longer required, any textbook may be sold through the buyback process with MBS or through other used textbook distributors. Some of those distributors include:

www.budgetext.com , www.fes.follett.com  or www.amazon.com.

Details for using MBS Direct:

MBS Direct provides a convenient method to sell your used textbooks back to MBS and also to purchase new or used textbooks via the on-line bookstore with a link on the school website (www.stpcs.org). Click on the “Parents” link at the top of the home page. You will see the Textbook icon here. If you click on that icon, you will be directed to the MBS website. You will find many helpful answers in the list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) which has a link in the black legend at the top of the home page of the On-Line Bookstore. It is suggested that you print this reference prior to initiating the online process.
