Saint Patrick Catholic School recently celebrated the many talentsin the performing arts of its students by putting on the first Talent Show in the school's brief history. The show was not only a celebration of singing, dancing and playing musical instruments, it was fundraiser for one of the student body's philanthropic efforts: ending slavery in the African nation of Madagascar. Following the performance of the Talent Show, the audience was asked to leave a donation for that cause. Taking part in the Talent Show included Claire and Aven, kindergarten students who danced to the Ashlee Simpson song, "My Boyfriend;" The Middle School Strings who played Beethoven's "Ode to Joy;"  Celine, a 1st grader who displayed her hulahooping skills to Mr. Kypros' piano accompaniment; the magic act of Maxwell, also a 1st grader; the dance and gymnastic skills of Coco, Courtney, and Calli, all of the 4th grade; kindergarten student Ted playing "Go Tell Aunt Rodie," on violin; Emma,a kindergarten student on the harmonica; a piano solo by by Eva, a 1st grader; a historical reenactment by 1st grader, Ignatius and third graders, Austin and Michael; kindergarten violinist Peyton; piano solists Emory, of 1st grade, Alex V. , of 3rd grade and Anne Hobbs of 4th grade; kindergarten student Faith singing the classic Shirley Temple number "Animal Crackers in My Soup;" a musical-comedy skit performed by 3rd graders Lee, Andrew, and Nicholas; the magic art of Eric, a 6th grader; illusionist Chase, 4th grade; 6th grade guitarist David; 5th grade violinist Pilar; 5th grade vocalists Shelby and Brittney; 6th grade vocalist Sarah; a ballet duet by 6th graders, Katie and Ashlee; and ballet solos by 5th grader Emily and 6th grader Katie. Handling the chore of Master of Ceremonies was 5th grader Grayson and 6th grader Cameron; meanwhile, 5th graders Danny and Patrick were the stage crew who kept all the "behind-the-scenes" transitions running smoothly.The entire production was shot by videographers Corrine, 5th grade; Auston and Gail, both of the 6th grade.
