Fresh off their performance in "A Christmas Palette of Song 2005," the 3rd Graders, of Mrs. Alesia Allen, and the 4th Graders of Mrs. Rickie Jean Lynch presented The American Dream, A Musical Celebration of America's Early Heritage in the Saint Patrick Performing Arts Theatre, March 15, 2006. The audience of parents, family, fellow students, faculty and students were entralled by this 45 minute program of song and verse under the musical direction of Mr. Christopher Kypros. The selection of  words and music, composed by Roger Emerson and John Jacobson, had a central theme that America as great and wonderful as she is, was founded by immigrants of all colors ,creeds and backgrounds. The early period covered in the musical started from the explorers who were credited with discovering America through the end of the Civil War (signified by the Emmancipation Proclamation and the start of Reconstruction). Some of the selections included "I Had a Dream," "We Call it America," "(Gonna Be A)Revolution," "We the People," "Moving on Out," and "Broken Dreams." There were numerous speaking parts which were delivered with high energy and clarity of speech by these young students. The portrayals featured Kevin as Leif Eriksson and Union Soldier; Lee as Christopher Columbus and Confederate Soldier; Zoe as Native American Woman (Chloe); Delaney as Narrator I; Alex H. as Martin Waldseemuller; Alex C. as Amerigo Vespucci; Alex V. as William Bradford; Ryan as Narrator II; Austin as Juan Bautista de Anza and The Prophet; Chase as John Winthrop; Andrew as William Penn; Grant as Native American Man; Patrick as Joseph Fish and Brigham Young; Nicholas as John Appleton and Frederick Douglas; Turner as Merriweather Lewis and Henry Clay; Mateo as William Clark; Lacey as Sacagawea; Anne Hobbs as Narrator III; Adaira as Sojourner Truth; Calli as Susan B. Anthony; Michael as Abraham Lincoln; Coco as Harriet Tubman; and Maddie as Statue of Liberty. There were other verses and quotations spoken by Meredith, Grace, Lorina, Aisling, Taylor, Jackson, Noah, and Darby. Rounding out the cast were Courtney, Elias, Christian and Meaghan.
