While the dedication of Saint Patrick Catholic School was perhaps one of the most important events to happen in the Richmond diocese in recent memory, the in-house dedication of the school's music room was no less significant and special to the Saint Patrick community. In a quiet ceremony led by Principal Stephen J. Hammond, the Saint Patrick music classroom and accompanying rehearsal suites have been rechristened as the Cordovana Music Suite in honor the Saint Patrick's most significant donor to date, Margaret Cordovana, affectionately known as "Auntie."
As she was flanked by several of the school's board of directors and surrounded by students, Miss Cordovana was visibly moved by the honor and serenade given by the fifth grade and kindergarten classes. Miss Cordovana was the guest of honor at the first lunch of the day. Following dessert, the Saint Patrick Catholic student body gave its traditional send off in song with a lovely rendering of "An Irish Blessing."
Miss Margaret Cordovana shares the frame with Principal Stephen J. Hammond and Charles V. McPhillips, a member of the Board of Directors; "Auntie" is all smiles while being serenaded by the fifth grade and the kindergarten class of Mrs. O'Connor.
The excitement mounted and many students could hardly stifle their energy while Mr. Robert Mayer, Athletic Director for Saint Patrick, gave an important but brief safety lesson on playground etiquette to the middle school. Once the permission was granted, gleeful children began their own special christening of the playground pod.
