Suzanne Voorhies

Art Teacher

Mrs. Suzanne Voorhies comes to Saint Patrick Catholic School with over twenty-five years of experience in a large Hampton Roads independent school.  During this time, she taught private art classes for adults and children, art workshops for local museums, and workshops for educators throughout the state of Virginia.  Her “in the spirit of…,” an elementary art history and interdisciplinary studies curricula, were presented at Virginia Association of Independent Schools workshops and classes.  Additionally, Mrs. Voorhies has written and directed a number of Middle School plays including, “Secrets at the Louvre,” “Robin Hood and Maid Marian,” and “Return to the Incas.”  Most recently, Mrs. Voorhies has focused on mural and consignment work during her three years of retirement.

Mrs. Voorhies earned a Bachelor of Science degree in art education from Ball State University and graduated summa cum laude. She has also completed coursework at Indiana University’s Herron School of Art and at Purdue University. A true life-long learner, Mrs. Voorhies has earned numerous graduate credits from Ball State University and Old Dominion University.
