Jamye Brown

Elementary School Teacher

Jamye comes to Saint Patrick from Newsome Elementary School in Newport News, where she taught 2nd and 3rd grades, and from Sewell’s Point Elementary School in Norfolk, where she taught kindergarten. Her responsibilities included the implementation of constructivist lesson plans; after-school tutoring; facilitation of project-based learning; and incorporating technology into the daily curriculum.

A steering committee member of Old Dominion University Early Childhood Education Alumni Association, Jamye received her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and a Master of Science in Education from Old Dominion University. As part of her graduate work, she had the opportunity to serve as teaching assistant to Dr. Katharine Kersey, one of the most respected authorities on early childhood education. Under Dr. Kersey, Jamye taught weekly graduate practicum classes, evaluated weekly practicum journals, and aided in teaching advanced classroom management teletechnet courses.
