Denyse O'ConnorKindergarten TeacherDenyse has more than 20 years of elementary school instruction, having taught kindergarten through 3rd grade for the Chesapeake Public School System. Her genuine love of teaching coupled with her approach to individualized instruction and integration of faith and prayer in the classroom, allows children to discover at an early age their own special gifts. The miracle is not that we do this work, ~ Mother Teresa During her tenure with Chesapeake Public Schools, Denyse taught numerous gifted and talented education classes; served as kindergarten grade level chairperson for four years; and became trained in guided reading programs, alternative assessments, individualized instruction, and learning centers. Outside of the classroom, Denyse devotes considerable time to her church and community. She is a Eucharistic minister and religious education teacher at St. Therese's Catholic Church in Chesapeake and serves as a committee member of the Maison Fortune Orphanage in Haiti. An accomplished dancer with the Joffrey Ballet in New York, Denyse received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Virginia Wesleyan College. |
