Extended Care Program: STPCS After Care Explorers (A.C.E.)

Welcome to STPCS After Care Explorers where we explore the world around us, each other, and ourselves. We are an extension of the Saint Patrick family that meets everyday after school where we provide children with the opportunity to discover and enjoy their interests in a fun, safe environment. Since the children are busy learning all day long, we realize the importance of letting them determine how their afternoon is structured. They are allowed choose between a myriad of activities during a framework of time slots. We offer such a wide array of activities, there is always something for everyone to do whether it is cooking, acting, drawing, or scoring goals.

The A.C.E staff also knows that most kids’ days are hectic so there might not be enough time at the end of the day to concentrate on homework. To counter this problem, we offer a mandatory quiet time where the children can study, read, or work on brain teasers provided by the staff.

We are also focused on the community around us, not only in Norfolk but globally. A.C.E. From sending supplies to the victims of Katrina to making Christmas cards for the elderly, we, the staff and children alike, want to be socially conscious and involved with the world around us.

Our numbers fluctuate from 70 children to 130 on Wacky Wednesdays. A.C.E. follows Virginia Law ratios so the children are supervised at all times. We strive to let each and every child have his own voice and nurture their individuality and interests. We live, laugh, and love. Wouldn’t you want to be an Explorer too?
