Extended Care Program:
STPCS After Care Explorers (A.C.E.)

ACE Announcements

  • Due to the large number of unpaid Extended Care charges, it has become necessary to put a new policy into place.  As of February 1, 2009, any child whose account is over 60 days past due will be unable to attended the Extended Care program.  If you are having difficulty paying your balance, please contact Mary Crepeau at 213-0832.  She will be happy to work with you to create a manageable payment plan.  Please remember to sign out your children on the Extended Care Sign-out Sheet.  This will insure that you are accurately charged for your child's attendence.
  • Welcome Letter from Sheila Jessen, Extended Care Director
  • Steve Hammond, principal of Saint Patrick Catholic School, will visit the A.C.E. program every second Thursday of the month at 4:15 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. starting in October. He will bring his guitar and take requests. Parents are welcome to this session! It is sure to be a blast.
  • Please remember that A.C.E. pick up is now in the lobby. Please check in at the office and sign your child out. Thank you so much for your patience.

Welcome to STPCS After Care Explorers where we explore the world around us, each other and ourselves. We are an extension of the Saint Patrick family that meets everyday after school where we provide children with the opportunity to discover and enjoy their interests in a fun, safe environment. Since the children are busy learning all day long, we realize the importance of letting them determine how their afternoon is structured. They are allowed to choose among a myriad of activities within a framework of time slots. We offer such a wide array of activities, there is always something for everyone to do whether it is learning a second language, developing your artistic abilities or honing your athletic skills.

The A.C.E staff also knows that most kids’ days are hectic, so there might not be enough time at the end of the day to concentrate on homework. To counter this situation, we offer a mandatory quiet time where the children can study, read or work on brain teasers provided by the staff.

We are also focused on the community around us, not only in Norfolk but globally. A.C.E. has contributed in a variety of ways, from sending supplies to the victims of Katrina to making Christmas cards for the elderly. We, the staff and children alike, want to be socially conscious and involved with the world around us.

Our numbers fluctuate from 70 children to 130 on Wacky Wednesdays. A.C.E. follows Virginia Law ratios, so the children are supervised at all times. We strive to let each and every child have his/her own voice and nurture their individuality and interests. We live, laugh and love. Wouldn’t you want to be an Explorer too?
