Spring Semester Student Activities

Young Yogis Yoga
Everyone needs a break from all of their talking, learning,”doing” and achieving (even from yoga postures!).  Sometimes it’s ok just to sit and “be."  Students will be learning the physical postures of yoga and create a cardio-flow while listening to fun music!

Grades: K-8
Day & Time: Wednesdays, 3:15 – 4:15pm and 3:30 - 4:30pm
Fee: $105/8 week session

Chinese – Culture & Language
Come experience and learn the various aspects of Chinese culture and language.  Brought to you by an Early Childhood Education specialist who speaks English, Mandarin, Malay, Hokkien and Cantonese – this activity is an introduction to basic writing, pronunciation, numbers and cultural history.

Grades: K-4
Day & Time: Tuesdays, 3:15 – 4:15pm
Fee: $30/month

Acadamiacs
Acadamiacs is all of the information for grades K-12 set to music and creative movement! Acadamiacs makes learning FUN and EASY! Have you ever noticed that you don’t forget what you sing? That is because the brain processes music differently than spoken language. Also more parts of the brain are used in the learning process while singing and moving. This makes learning through music the fastest and most efficient delivery system for learning, understanding, remembering and application. Besides, it’s just plain FUN!  (Note: This class needs 28 enrolled students in order to be scheduled.)

Chess – Rules, Strategies & More
Students learn the basics of the game and then start to expand their knowledge through chess challenges and games.  Facilitated by a former Virginia State Champion, students of all ages are welcomed to participate.

Message in Motion – Ministry Dance
Psalm 149: 3- "Let them praise His name with dancing."  Through Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical, Modern, Tap and more – learn to share God’s message through the art of dance.    The activity is open boys and girls of with all levels of experience.  Student will minister their dances at the school through chapels, various programs and at a spring recital.

Wolfhound Spirit Club
Calling all Wolfhounds!  If you have school spirit, now is your chance to show it off!  Starting in January, After Care will be offering a Spirit Club to kindergarten through 2nd grade! During our weekly club, we will do fun activities such as making STPCS themed crafts, crowd cheers, a secret hand shake, and more, all of which can be used at Wolfhound games, pep rallies and other fun school functions. 

Grades: K-2

Fee: $30/quarter (students currently enrolled in After Care on the scheduled day - $15/quarter)

Note: This club will be offered to Middle School Students during the 4th quarter.  Registration for this will take place at a later date.

Wolfhound Productions Club
“I love to sing! I love to draw! I someday want to star in a Broadway play!” If you are a 3rd or 4th grader and any of these statements are true for you, then Wolfhound Productions Club is made for you!  As a member of this club, we will put on a mini Broadway play, write and sing songs together and paint our very own Art Club masterpieces. Each week beginning in Jan, we will focus on one specific theme, visual art, singing and theatre. At the end of our club, we will have an art show to display individual pieces of art, have a jam session of our songs and perform skits for fellow students to enjoy!

Grades: 3 & 4

Fee: $30/quarter (students currently enrolled in After Care on the scheduled day - $15/quarter)

Note: This club will be offered again in the 4th quarter to students placed on the waitlist or who wish to register.

 

ECO Club
Are you enthusiastic about the environment?  Do you love recycling and and doing your part to help make our planet green?  Then you won’t want to miss ECO Club.   In Jan, After Care is excited to announce a club filled with fun, creative crafts, computer games and other activities with a “green” theme that are ECO-friendly.   This club will be offered to 1st through 4th grades. 

Grades: 1-4
Day & Time: Wednesday, 1:15-2:00pm
Fee: $30/quarter (students currently enrolled in After Care on the scheduled day - $15/quarter)
Months: Third Quarter
Note: This club will be offered again in the 4th quarter to Middle School students.

 

Homework Helper
If you are a student who needs individual assistance with homework, a quiet place to focus on homework after school or improvement in your study habits, look no further.  Homework Helper is your club.  Starting in January, Homework Helper will be offered for an hour and a half each day Monday through Thursday for Middle School students and an hour each day for students in grades 3 and 4.  Since this club is designed to meet the specific needs of individual students, registration will be limited to preserve adult-to-student ratios.  For information regarding individualized homework assistance, please contact Sheila Jessen at sjessen@stpcs.org.

• 3 sessions per week: $110/month (students currently enrolled in After Care on the scheduled day - $55/month)
• 4 sessions per week: $150/month (students currently enrolled in After Care on the scheduled day - $75/month)
