Reflections from the 2007-2008 School Year

October 2007 - Self-Relfection

The Saint Patrick Catholic School program is based upon self-reflection.  No true growth and development comes without reflection.  In our society today, we take less and less time for this necessary process. There are so many distracters in life.
What is the value of self-reflection in your life?

We strive to build time for self-reflection into our students’ daily experiences.  Doing so ensures that they have time to consider how they wish to grow in each domain of the Graduate at Graduation.

How do you and your family make time for self-reflection? How can you make more time for this important process?

November 2007 - Community

We believe in the sanctity of life and this is where our school program starts.  We believe that children are created in the image and likeness of God.  They come to us with a host of gifts and skills, preferences and intelligences that are ours to identify, nurture, and celebrate. How do we do this with children?

We develop warm, nurturing, positive relationships with them – so that we can better identify, nurture and celebrate each child.  We also do the same for our children’s parents because we know that no one knows the child better than his or her parents.   In creating warm & positive relationships with parents around the formation of children, we establish a school community.

A community is nothing more than many positive relationships formed around a common mission. It is in community that we live our values, our hopes, our dreams for children. As you enter Saint Patrick Catholic School, please know and understand the importance of community.  We are all we have.  We are the body of Christ working in the service of children.

Can you see where Christ is found in the power and beauty of relationships?

December 2007 - Hopeful & Hope-filled

As we begin the new liturgical year and embark upon the season of Advent, let us pause and reflect on how we embrace this season of anticipation and hope – of awaiting and watching for Christ’s coming.  What do we hope for in our hearts, our homes, and our community? How can we actualize these hopes in our daily lives?

At Saint Patrick Catholic School, we are a community of hope.  We look to each day as an opportunity to be filled with God’s love.  Often times our busy lives can overshadow this hope for and anticipation of God’s love.  By incorporating daily rituals, we establish the presence of prayer and reflection in our lives of and the lives of each student.  From morning meetings, to middle school assembly, to lunch time prayers – we create opportunities to pray, meditate, and reflect.

Such awareness of hope, anticipation, and ultimately God’s love can help all to see the gifts and beauty in each day.  We are filled with the hope that God is with us always and that Christ will come.

What hopes do you have for yourself, your family, and your community?
